the allegory of conversion
a selection from a series of solar etchings with chine collé
the allegory continues
mixed media, chin collé & hand stitching mounted on a wood cradle
In this series, the allegory of conversion, I found myself relying on familiar images in order to focus my attention on a new etching process, solar etching. What has emerged has become a representation of the transitions I believe we all undergo when we are in the creative process. The familiar is comfortable and ultimately you start reaching further with the new process. There are 15 etchings in this series with a varied edition of many of them.
As the allegory continues: These are cut outs from larger pieces. I was looking for intimacy... a closer, more microscopic sense.
